It marks UConn's best start since the 2008 season (8-4). Connecticut is looking for its first 2-0 start in conference play since 2004.
The Huskies and Pirates have never met on the court but ECU sports a 6-2 overall record, most recently falling to No. 3 Penn State, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon. Sydney Darden, along with junior middle blocker Kierra Lee-Dunson , led the Pirates with six kills each in the match. The sophomore outside hitter also added a match-high four block assists to go along with a pair of assists. Lee-Dunson was perfect through most of the match as she tallied six kills on 10 attempts with just one error to hit a team-best .500.
Junior captain Erika Thomas (Ocoee, Fla.) needs just two blocks to move into eighth-place on UConn's all-time block list (281).
