STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's volleyball team continues the back half of its conference schedule when it hosts American Athletic Conference leader UCF on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion before rounding out the weekend against USF on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.
UConn (10-13, 3-9 The American) is coming off a split against Cincinnati and Memphis, downing the Bearcats in five after a 15-kill, 16-dig performance from senior tri-captain Devon Maugle (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.). Maugle is inching closer to her quest to become the seventh Husky player to record at least 1000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. The outside hitter currently boasts 963 kills to go along with 917 digs.
The Huskies are 0-4 all-time against the Knights in a series that dates back to 1997. Earlier this season, UCF swept Connecticut in Orlando, holding the Huskies to a .079 team hitting percentage. UConn sports a 7-5 record all-time against South Florida, which includes a 3-1 loss to the Bulls on Oct. 3. USF has won the last three match-ups, dating back to a 3-1 Husky win on Nov. 9, 2012.
On the national scale, senior libero Brianna Datti checks in at No. 81 in the country, and sixth in the conference, with 4.49 digs/set, while junior middle blocker Immanuella Anagu's .328 hitting percentage is good for 128th in the nation.
On Sunday, the program will honor six of its most outstanding alumni with a short ceremony on the court in between the second and third set.
