UConn Hosts East Carolina On Sunday

STORRS, Conn. - After taking Temple to five sets on Wednesday, the University of Connecticut women's volleyball team returns home to Harry A. Gampel Pavilion to host East Carolina on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.
UConn (10-16) battled back after losing the first set to the Owls, forcing the match into a decisive fifth set, but ultimately dropped the frame, 15-11. Junior middle blocker Immanuella Anagu (Culver City, Calif.) delivered an impressive 19-kill performance, while senior tri-captain Devon Maugle (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) scooped a career-best 25 digs in the setback and moved closer to becoming the seventh-ever Husky to record 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Currently, the outside hitter has registered 990 kills and 963 digs in her three-plus seasons in Storrs.
Earlier this season, Connecticut topped ECU, 3-1, at Minges Coliseum in Greenville, N.C. in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Anagu notched a team-best14 kills and the junior also hit .346 on the night. Jade Strawberry (Tallahassee, Fla.) delivered a 10-kill, six-dig effort in the victory.
This season, UConn holds a 5-8 mark on its home court. Over the last four seasons, the Huskies are 28-23 at Gampel. Junior captain Erika Thomas became, who notched six block assist son Wednesday, became just the seventh UConn player to record at least 300 career rejections earlier this season. The Husky tri-captain sits at No. 8 in program history with 318 career blocks.
