Laxers Fall in Battle of Ranked BIG EAST Teams

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The No. 17 University of Connecticut women's lacrosse team fell to No. 8 Georgetown on the road Friday afternoon, 9-6. The Huskies are now 13-2 overall and 5-2 in the BIG EAST, while the Hoyas improved to 12-3 and 6-1.
Tied 4-4 at the half, Georgetown outscored UConn, 5-2, in the second half.
Hannah Franklin led the Hoyas' offense with four goals, two in each half, on six shots. Midfielder Kacey Pippitt led the Huskies with a pair of goals, while fellow midfielder Morgan O'Reilly notched a pair of assists.
In the cage, Shannon Nee made three saves for Connecticut, while Barb Black stop four for the Hoyas.
UConn was outshot by Georgetown, 16-14, for the game. The Hoyas also held a 19-15 edge in groundballs.
The Huskies return to action on Sunday at Loyola at 1:00 pm.
