Cecco Wins BIG EAST One-Meter Diving Title

PITTSBURGH - University of Connecticut junior Danielle Cecco (Hicksville, N.Y.) won the one-meter event on Friday on the first day of the BIG EAST Diving Championship. Cecco had a 278.65 score in the preliminaries and had a final score of 287.10.
Cecco was a finalist in both the one-meter and three-meter events last season and qualified for the NCAAs in both events as well.
Husky junior Nicole Borriello (Montgomery, N.Y.) was tenth in the one-meters with a final score of 242.90 and a 234.80 in the preliminaries. Senior Kelly McCauley (Cortland Manner, N.Y.) was 29th with a score of 178.20.
On the men's side, junior Grant Fecteau (Delmar, N.Y.) was seventh in the three-meters with a final score of 277.90 and a 314.45 mark in the preliminaries.
The championships continue on Saturday and conclude on Sunday. The swimming portion of the championships begin on Wednesday in Pittsburgh.
