UConn Women's Lacrosse Announces 2012 Schedule

2012 Women's Lacrosse Schedule 
STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut head lacrosse coach Katie Woods announced the 2011 schedule, which is highlighted by eight home contests and a difficult BIG EAST schedule.
The Huskies will open the 2012 season with a playday at UConn on Saturday, February 11th. UConn's will host three straight home games to start the regular season, beginning with the Iona Gaels on Saturday, February, 18th at 1 p.m. In last year's season opener the Huskies handled the Gaels convincingly, earning an 18-11 victory.
UConn then hosts Quinnipiac on Saturday, February 25th and Boston College on Wednesday, February 29th. Boston College served UConn its first loss last season and finished No. 13 in the polls. Woods and her team will then travel to New York for their first away game of the season as they look to take on the Binghamton Bearcats on March 3rd.
Connecticut will face three more nonconference opponents including UNH, Fairfield, and Sacred Heart before starting BIG EAST play.
The Huskies will open conference action play at home when they host Syracuse on Saturday, March 24 before taking to the road for two BIG EAST contests against the Georgetown Hoyas who finished the 2011 season with a 7-1 BIG EAST record and Rutgers. UConn will finish its road trip at Columbia on April 7th before returning home to face the BIG EAST Champion runner-up, Notre Dame on April 14th.
Connecticut will finish the regular season at home against the 2011 BIG EAST tournament Champions, Loyola on Sunday, April 25th at 1 p.m. Loyola finished the season with a 17-3 record and a No. 7 national ranking.
