Huskies To Face Niagara In First-Ever Meeting

The UConn men's hockey squad will continue its five-game road trip with a pair at Niagara in Niagara University, N.Y. on Friday and Saturday, December 3 and 4. Both games will be played in Dwyer Arena with the puck set to drop at 7:05 p.m.
Friday's game will be aired live on Time Warner Cable in Western, N.Y. Both games will also have live stats and live audio available through UConnhuskies.com.
Connecticut is coming off a 0-2 weekend at the RPI Holiday Tournament in Troy, N.Y. UConn suffered 6-5 and 6-2 losses to RPI and Alabama-Huntsville, respectively. The Huskies now stand at 3-6-3 overall and 3-3-1 in the Atlantic Hockey Association. Friday's game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
Connecticut will look to stifle a powerful Niagara offense ranked 11th in the nation with 3.53 goals per contest. UConn split time between the pipes last weekend between sophomore Garrett Bartus (St. Charles, Ill.) and redshirt freshman Matt Grogan (Gilbert, Ariz.). Bartus recorded 35 saves against RPI while Grogan stopped 33 shots in his first collegiate start.
Offensively, junior Daniel Naurato (Northville, Mich.) was named to the Atlantic Hockey Honor Roll this week after tallying two goals and two assists over the weekend. Naurato put home a goal and an assist in both games and now has five points in his last three contests. Sophomores Sean Ambrosie (Moorhead, Minn.) and Miles Winter (Horsham, Pa.) are tied for the team lead with 10 points each. Ambrosie leads the team with five goals while Winter owns the team lead with eight assists.
Niagara recently split a pair of conference games with Army by identical 4-1 scores. NU is also receiving votes in the latest USCHO.com poll. The Purple Eagles are led by reigning Atlantic Hockey Player of the Month Paul Zanette. Zanette currently leads the nation with 14 goals on the season. He's added five assists for 19 points.
Freshman Carsen Chubak has appeared in nine games this season in goal, starting seven. Chubak owns a 4-3-1 recorded based on a 2.80 goals against average and a .899 save percentage.
