Huskies Start Three-Game Road Trip With Two At RIT

The Huskies will face RIT in a pair of Atlantic Hockey games on Friday and Saturday, November 12-13. Both games are set to start at 7:05 and will be played in Ritter Arena in Rochester, N.Y. UConn currently sits at 2-1-3 (2-0-1 AHA) while RIT owns a record of 2-5-1 (1-1-0 AHA). Live stats and video can be found at UConnhuskies.com.
LAST TIME OUT: The Huskies hosted AHA foe Canisius for a pair of games at Freitas Ice Forum and came away with three points. UConn won game one on Friday night, 3-2. Brian Reagan put home the game-winning goal 1:40 into the third period. Garrett Bartus stopped 24 shots to earn the victory.
In game two on Saturday night, UConn needed a third-period goal from freshman Cole Schneider to earn a 1-1 tie. Bartus stopped 36 shots to earn the point in the AHA standings.
SCHNEIDER LEADS THE WAY: Freshman Cole Schneider leads the team in scoring with three goals and six points after six games. His 1.00 points per game average stands at 10th in the nation among freshmen.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN: After a pair of games at home against Canisius (1-0-1), UConn will now hit the road again for three-straight contests. UConn opened the season with four-straight games on the road and plays 12 of the first 15 games away from Freitas Ice Forum. Since becoming a Division I program, UConn stands at 69-142-30 on the road. This season, UConn owns a 1-1-2 mark on the road.
TOP COMPETITION: With the two contests against Canisius this past weekend, UConn has played five of six games against teams that are ranked or receiving votes.
SERIES AGAINST RIT: Connecticut stands at 6-12-1 against the Tigers all-time. Last season, UConn faced RIT six times and came away with just one victory. The Huskies and the Tigers faced off in the AHA Quarterfinals. UConn took RIT to overtime in game one, but fell, 4-3. RIT ended UConn's season the next night with a 4-1 victory.
UCONN VS THE AHA: UConn stands at 186-223-35 all-time against teams in the Atlantic Hockey Association. Last season, UConn earned a 6-19-3 mark against the AHA. Since the league was created in 2003, UConn stands at 72-104-19 in the AHA.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS: RIT comes into the game with a 2-5-1 mark with victories over Cornell and Robert Morris. RIT is led offensively by senior Andrew Favot and junior Tyler Brenner. Favot leads the team with six assist and nine points. Brenner sits right behind with eight points while leading the team with five goals.
RIT has utilized three goaltenders in the early part of the season. Senior Jan Ropponen has started four games while boasting a 1-3-0 record based on a 3.27 goals against average and a .904 save percentage.
Last season, RIT had a record-breaking campaign as it became the first AHA team to advance to the NCAA Frozen Four. The Tigers lost to Wisconsin in the NCAA Semifinals, 8-1.
MAN DOWN... SO WHAT?: The UConn penalty kill has been sensational in the first four games. The Huskies have allowed just three goals while on the penalty kill. The 90.6-percent mark stands at fourth in the nation. UConn has stopped 48 of 51 shots while on the penalty kill.
