Cascio scored the Huskies' first goal of the night, which was the eventual game winner, in the 23rd minute as he drilled a shot into the back of the net after receiving a pass from Carlos Alvarez, who currently leads the BIG EAST Conference in assists. Alvarez finished the night with three to improve his tally on the year to 12.
Twenty-five seconds after UConn took a 1-0 lead, Stephane Diop scored his sixth goal of the year to extend the Huskies' advantage to two. Alvarez played the ball down the near sideline to senior Shawn Nicklaw, who then crossed the ball into the box where he found Diop for the Huskies' second goal of the night.
UConn tallied two more goals in the first half as senior captain Robert Brickley scored his first goal of the season and the second of his career. His score came at the 29:14 mark of the contest as he headed the ball off of a free kick by Alvarez.
Cascio netted his second goal of the game in the 41st minute as he drilled the rebound into the back of the net after a Nickardo Blake shot was saved by Seton Hall goalkeeper, Kevin Bonder.
For Cascio it was his fifth multiple-point effort this season and his second game with two or more goals. Alvarez recorded his third game this season with two or more assists, while he has registered at least one point in all eight of UConn's victories.
Josh Ford finished the contest with one save for his 50th career victory with the Huskies. He did not allow a goal in 68:33, while teammate Matt Sangeloty took over in net for the final 21:27 of the contest.
