UConn Travels To No. 13/16 Union Thursday Night

The UConn men's hockey program will play on Thursday, October 28 in Schenectady, N.Y. against No. 13/16 Union. The puck is set to drop at 7:05 p.m. UConn comes into the game with a 1-1-1 mark including a 1-0-0 record in Atlantic Hockey. Union will enter Thursday's contest with a 5-1-0 record.
LAST TIME OUT: UConn defeated Army, 3-2, in the Atlantic Hockey opener for the Huskies. UConn rallied back from down, 1-0, in the third period. The Huskies tallied three-straight goals in the third to take the lead for good.
Freshman Cole Schneider tallied a pair of goals, including the game winner. Senior defenseman Brian Reagan recorded three points with a goal and two assists.
Garrett Bartus stopped 35 shots to lead the Huskies. He stopped 14 of 15 shots in the third period.
END OF THE ROAD TRIP: UConn opened the season with four-straight road games. Thursday's contest will be the last of the four-game trip. Since becoming a Division I program in 1998-99, UConn owns an all-time road record of 69-142-29.
CONFERENCE OPENER: UConn opened the Atlantic Hockey season with a 3-2 victory over Army on Saturday, October 23. In eight years of AHA play, UConn stands at 3-5 in season openers.
SERIES AGAINST UNION: Connecticut stands at 0-7-1 against the Dutchmen. In the last meeting between the two programs, UConn lost in the Toyota UConn Classic, 7-0.
UCONN VS. THE ECAC: UConn owns a 15-40-6 record all-time against teams from the ECAC. UConn owns a winning record against Quinnipiac. The other seven teams from the ECAC that UConn has faced all have the edge over the Huskies in the all-time series.
MAN DOWN... SO WHAT?: The UConn penalty-kill has been nearly infallible in the opening three games. The Huskies have allowed just one goal while on the penalty-kill. The 94.7-percent mark stands at third in the nation. UConn has stopped 35 of 36 shots while on the penalty kill.
YEARLY EVENT: Freshman Cole Schneider tallied a pair of goals against Army on October 23, 2010. It marked the first time a UConn player lit the lamp twice in one game since current sophomore Sean Ambrosie tallied a pair in a 4-3 loss at Bentley on October 23, 2009
REAGAN'S THREE POINT NIGHT: Senior defenseman Brian Reagan tallied three points with a goal and two assists in the 3-2 victory at Army on October 23. He was the first UConn player to register three points in a game since Jason Krispel recorded three against Bentley in a 4-3 overtime loss on February 16, 2008.
ON-A-ROLL: UConn had three players named to the Atlantic Hockey Honor Roll on Monday, October 25. Freshman Cole Schneider, sophomore Garrett Bartus and senior Brian Reagan were all honored for their performances against Army in the AHA opener. Schneider put home two goals, including the game-winner while Reagan added a goal and two assists. Bartus denied 35 shots to earn the victory.
SCOUTING THE DUTCHMEN: Union comes into the game with a 5-1 record and a No. 13/16 ranking in the national polls. The Dutchmen boast one of the most powerful attacks in the country. Union has the nation's top power play at 41-percent and has already scored 13 power-play goals this season. The Dutchmen are scoring 5.67 goals per game, the most in the nation. Union also brings a stout defense to the game, allowing a mere 1.83 goals per game. That mark ranks third in the nation.
Union is led offensively by senior Adam Presizniuk and his four goals, nine assists and 13 points. The 13 points ranks second in the nation in overall scoring. Sophomore Keith Kinkaid ranks second in the nation with a 1.46 goals against average and fifth in the country with a .942 save percentage.
