Women's Lacrosse Announces Coaching Staff Addition

STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut women's lacrosse head coach Angela McMahon has announced that Caitlin Jackson will join the coaching staff for the Huskies this season. Jackson graduated with a degree in Communication Studies from Northwestern in 2009. A midfielder on the four-time National Champion Northwestern squad, Jackson brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience to Storrs.
"I am thrilled to announce the hiring of Caitlin Jackson," McMahon said. "She brings invaluable experience playing on four National Championship teams. She will make an immediate impact for us on the defensive end. I look forward to having her join the Husky family."
She concluded her four-year varsity career with 71 games played, including eight starts for the Wildcats. Jackson posted career highs in ground balls (20), draw controls (14) and caused turnovers (4) in her senior season. In addition to her time on the field, Jackson was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
Jackson spent her summers working a variety of lacrosse camps including playing an instrumental part in five Northwestern's Lacrosse Camp under the direction of head coach Kelly Amonte-Hiller. As a coach, Jackson was responsible for overseeing six to 20 campers as well as helping to facilitate camp transportation and housing.
During the school year, she coached the Wildcat Elite Lacrosse Club Team from 2007 to 2009. Jackson oversaw practices and a variety of summer tournaments.
In August of 2006 and 2007, the Massachusetts native was the head coach of the Norwell Youth Lacrosse Camp. Jackson planned and organized all managerial task of the camp in addition to serving as well as being responsible for all direct and e-mail marketing for the camp.
Jackson will join fellow Northwestern alum in McMahon and assistant coach Melynda Zwick for the 2010 season.
