STORRS, Conn. - Following a 13-8 loss in its first BIG EAST game of the season, University of Connecticut lacrosse (0-7) looks forward to a non-conference match-up against Harvard on Wednesday. The Huskies hold a 4-1 advantage in the all-time series vs. the Crimson, losing their first game to their Ivy League foe last season.
M.E. Lapham (Cazenovia, N.Y.) led Connecticut (0-7) with five goals against the Orange on March 14, including a pair of free-position goals to tie the game twice. Lapham earned a spot on the conference honor roll after her stellar performance. She was the lone rookie among the five honorees selected on Monday.
Fellow freshman Kiersten Tupper (Camillus, N.Y.) continues to lead the Huskies in scoring with 26 points this season. Tupper has scored 10 goals and has a team-best 16 assists in the first seven games of her rookie campaign. She had a pair of assists against the Orange on Saturday.
Harvard (2-3) lost its Ivy League season opener to the Huskies' next opponent, Brown. Despite a hat trick from leading goal scorer Jess Halpern, the Crimson were unable to surpass the Bears as Brown rallied late to secure a 12-8 victory. Halpern has 21 points thus far, including a team-leading total of 18 goals.
The first to arrive to George J. Sherman-Family Sports Complex on Wednesday will receive a free UConn giveaway. Game time is set for 4 p.m. Those unable to attend will be able to follow the action on GameTracker via UConnHuskies.com.
