Lacrosse Falls to UNH, 18-4

DURHAM, N.H. (March 7, 2008)-- The University of Connecticut women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-4 decision Friday afternoon to the University of New Hampshire.
With the loss, UConn falls to 0-3 on the season. The Wildcats improve to 3-2 with the victory.
UNH jumped out to a 6-0 advantage in the first half, but the Huskies responded with three goals in the final nine minutes of the stanza to cut the deficit to 6-3. The Huskies then scored the first goal of the second half to get within two, but UNH responded with a fury, scoring the final 12 goals of the contest to go on to the win.
Leading the Huskies on the day was junior Kim McGinty (Huntington, N.Y.) who registered a goal and two assists. Sophomore Katie Devaney (Fayetteville, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist, while junior Katy Ryan (Hamburg, N.Y.) and freshman Jillian Cerar (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) also added a goal on the day.
The Huskies return to action on Tuesday, March 11 when they travel to take on the University of Denver in Denver, Colo. Game time is 6:00 p.m. eastern time.
