SYRACUSE, N.Y. (March 22, 2008) - Christina Dove led all scorers with five goals as the No. 6 nationally-ranked Syracuse women's lacrosse team defeated the University of Connecticut, 24-4, Saturday afternoon a the Carrier Dome.
The loss drops the Huskies' record to 0-7 on the year and 0-2 in the BIG EAST. The Orange is now 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
Whitney Michele (East Rochester, N.Y.) led UConn with two goals.
Syracuse jumped out to 3-0 lead, but the Huskies closed the gap with goals from Michele and Jillian Cerar (Massapequa, N.Y.) to cut the margin to 3-2 with 15:18 to play in the first half. The Orange closed out the half with a 12-1 run with Kim McGinty (Huntington, N.Y.) scoring the only UConn goal in the stretch with 0:25 to play in the stanza.
Syracuse went on to out-score UConn 9-1 in the second half. Michele scored her second goal of the game with 11:14 to play.
The Huskies return to action Wednesday, Mar. 26, at 3:00 p.m. against Yale in New Haven.
