Rowing Celebrates Season At Annual Banquet

STORRS, Conn. (April 29, 2006) - The University of Connecticut women’s rowing team had its annual banquet on Saturday April 29, to highlight the 2005-2006 season and honor its nine graduating seniors. Graduating this year are Alison Elmo (Highland Mills, N.Y.), Stephanie Chivers (Dalton, Mass.), Caitlin Meisinger (Bristol, Conn.), Katie Devonshuk (Beacon Falls, Conn.), Christina Cotter (West Seneca, N.Y.), Erin Bartie (Westport, Conn.), Heather Cannon (Wallingford, Conn.), Valerie Voorhees (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Brooke Grauer (Fairfield, Conn.).
Chivers received the Husky Award for qualities leadership, friendship, and dedication. This award was voted on by her peers.
Kerri Mocko (Stafford Springs, Conn.) received the Drive Award for excellence in winter training.
Elmo was the recipient of the Coaches Award, for her outstanding leadership qualities in her senior year.
Prior to the banquet, the team voted for the 2006-2007 captains. Mocko, Katie Beasley (Centerville, Mass.), and Nicole Rapp (Mansfield, Conn.) will represent UConn as team captains.
UConn women’s rowing will conclude its season at the Dad Vail Championships in Philadelphia on May 12 and 13.
