Dyson Earns BIG EAST Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (December 18, 2006)-- University of Connecticut freshman guard Jerome Dyson (Rockville, Md.) has been named the BIG EAST Conference Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday morning.
Dyson led the Huskies to a win in their only game of the week, scoring a game-high 19 points in an 89-73 victory over St. Mary's Sunday at the Hartford Civic Center. Dyson is the leading scorer for the Huskies this season, averaging 14.2 points per game and has reached double figures in eight of nine games. He also leads the team in steals, three-pointers made and free throws made.
UConn returns to action Wednesday, December 20 with a 7:00 p.m. contest at the Hartford Civic Center against the Waves of Pepperdine University. The game will be televised by ESPNU.
