UConn Falls at Boston University

BOSTON, MA (April, 16) -- Mary Beth Miller scored four goals to lead Boston University past the University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse team, 11-4, at Nickerson Field in Boston on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, UConn slips below .500 for the first time this season with a record if 5-6, while BU improves to 8-4 on the campaign.
BU tallied the game's first goal three minutes into the contest, but UConn midfielder Heather Levins (East Northport, NY) answered less than one minute later with a goal of her own to tie the game at one goal a piece. The Terriers would take the lead for good at the 25:12 mark with a score by Kylie Wagenet, and would extend their lead with a goal from Lindsay Lewis five minutes later. UConn would not lie down, as sophomore Abbey VanDeusen (Fayetteville, NY) took a feed from senior Kelly Feeley (Collingswood, NJ) and punched it into the back of the net at the 19:45 mark. Kariane Lauri (Memphis, NY) would notch UConn’s third goal of the half at 24:08 to pull UConn to within one goal, 4-3, with 7:23 remaining in the first half.
BU would take over from there, scoring seven of the game’s final eight goals, as Bonnie Wehinger (North Syracuse, NY) notched UConn’s lone goal in the second stanza with 24:08 remaining.
April Pollock (North Syracuse, NY) started in net for the Huskies and stopped 11 shots while allowing nine goals. Jennifer Wong (Greenwood Village, CO) took over with ten minutes remaining, making two saves and allowing the game’s final two goals. Anne Sheridan was solid in net for the Terriers, notching 10 saves and allowing only four goals.
UConn returns home Saturday April 19th to take on conference opponent Virginia Tech at Morrone Stadium in Storrs. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
