NEW HAVEN, CT (November 1) -- The University of Connecticut women’s rowing novice team had a very successful day at the Yale Invitational in Derby, CT on Saturday afternoon.
"We are very pleased with the results of all three boats. This regatta features some very strong programs and having our "a" boat finish in 8th place is excellent at this point of the year,” said assistant and novice coach Cindy Biles. “Particularly exciting are the equally strong finishes of the “b” and “c” boats, 12th and 16th respectively, with only 20-seconds separating the two boats."
"Our goal was to come out and put together the best races of the season. For some athletes this was not only the first race of the fall, but the first time they had raced at all,” said Biles. “All three boats accomplished that goal and finished strongly against the boats in their category. It's a great indication of the depth and athleticism of the team and set's us up for what we hope is our most successful spring season to date."
