UConn Names New Assistant Coach

STORRS, CT (Sept. 19, 2002) - Barry Hoey, a native of Dublin, Ireland, and former member of the UConn swimming and diving team, has been named the assistant swimming & diving coach for the 2002-03 season, UConn swimming and diving head coach Bob Goldberg announced today.
"Barry will bring a great deal of knowledge to our program, having had an outstanding four year career at UConn and coming from one of the premier club teams and coaches in the country (Brandon Blue Wave & Peter Banks)," said coach Goldberg.
Hoey was a team captain at Connecticut and is the current 1,000, 1,650 and 500 meter freestyle record holder at UConn. He was an Irish national champion and a member of one of the premier clubs in the country. Hoey has recently finished his masters in sports administration at Connecticut.
