PROVIDENCE, RI (June 13, 2002)-- The 2002-03 University of Connecticut men’s basketball schedule will include a 16-game BIG EAST Conference slate, announced by the league office Thursday, and be highlighted by a rematch of the thrilling 2002 BIG EAST Tournament Championship Game with the University of Pittsburgh.
UConn will play home and away contests with each of its six East Division opponents, Boston College, Miami, Providence, St. John’s, Villanova and Virginia Tech. The Huskies will host West Division foes Rutgers and Syracuse in crossover games and travel to Notre Dame and Pittsburgh to round out the 16-game schedule. The Huskies defeated Pittsburgh, 74-65 in double overtime, to capture the BIG EAST Tournament title in a match-up of the 2001-02 East and West Division winners.
Connecticut will not face Georgetown, Seton Hall or West Virginia of the West Division during the 2002-03 regular season.
