STORRS, CT (May 21) – Kendell Donoho (Timonium, MD) of the University of Connecticut women’s rowing team was invited to participate in the 2002 National Team Development Camp. The camp will be held from June 12-29 at Cornell University’s Collyer and Robison Boathouses in Ithaca, NY.
Athletes were selected based on the coaches’ recommendations, ergometer scores, collegiate performance and results from fall racing pairs. The group of athletes is broken down into two groups, pre-elite and development. The women will move between groups based on technical ability and ergometer scores gathered during camps. From the pre-elite camp, athletes will be invited to Princeton, NJ for the final selection of crews to race at the U-23 Nation’s Cup Regatta in Genoa, Italy from July 25-27.
Donoho graduated from Connecticut in May 2002 with a degree in Graphic Design. She was a four-year participant with the UConn rowing team, and was invited by US Rowing to attend Novice Selection Camp at the US Olympic Training Center in San Diego in 1999.
"Kendell has had a very successful four years of rowing at UConn. She has shown tremendous individual improvements over the years. Most National Team rowers start their rowing careers at an early age, usually freshman year in High School. Kendell was a walk on at UConn, and has shown very strong potential in her young career as a rower. She has the athleticism, and will power to compete with the best, and has a strong future ahead of her in rowing. Kendell was selected for camp this summer based on her strong showing on ergometer tests in monthly National Team testing, and for her proven potential as a rower. It will be a great opportunity for Kendell to row with the top collegiate rowers in the country this summer."
