Huskies Swim to Seventh at BIG EAST Championships

UNIONDALE, NY (2/24/02) – The University of Connecticut men's and women's swimming & diving teams brought home seventh place finishes by both teams in the three-day BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championship. The event, held at the Nassau County Aquatics Center, was won by Notre Dame on the women's side who scored 797 total points, and Pittsburgh on the men's side with 807 total points. The UConn women finished with 213.5 points, while the men finished with 345.5 points.
UConn's top finish of the final day was turned in by junior Kate Larson (Sayville, NY) who finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:18.17. On the men's side, the Huskies swam to a sixth place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay. Sophomore Dustin Rogers (West Allis, WI), freshmen Bill Monaghan (Fairfield, CT) and Connor Murphy (Staten Island, NY) and junior Marshal Livingstone (Endwell, NY) combined for a time of 3:04.12 in the event. Pittsburgh turned in the winning team with a BIG EAST record time of 2:55.87.
