Huskies Compete at US Open and Nutmeg Invitational

NEW HAVEN, CT– The University of Connecticut women’s swimming and diving team competed at the Nutmeg Invitational at Yale University, while some individuals competed at the US Open in Minneapolis, MN.
The Huskies completed the three day Nutmeg Invitational with 16 top five finishes, including three first place finishes. Junior Kate Jelus finished first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.92. In the 1000 yard free freshman Sarah Massey finished first with a time of 11:07.51. Freshman Christine Harvey won medalist honors in the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:07.09.
At the US Open meet senior Kate Larson, junior Lindsay Hansen and freshman Bridget Regan competed against the best in the country. Hansen finished 43rd in the 800 meter free in a time of 9:18.31 and 44th in the 200 meter free at 2:08.42. Larson finished 42nd in the 100 meter breast at 1:16.84, the 200 meter breast in 29th at 2:44.08 and the 200 meter IM at 2:30.58 for 60th. Regan finished 28th in the 200 meter IM at 5:09.44 and the 200 meter fly in 2:24.58 for 29th.
The Huskies will take Christmas vacation and return to action on January 5, against Clarkson University, on their annual training trip.
