Huskies Fall to New Hampshire, 3-1

DURHAM, NH (Nov. 30) – The University of Connecticut men’s ice hockey team put up a hard fight in a 3-1 loss to the No. 2 nationally ranked University of New Hampshire at Towse Rink in the Whittemore Center in Durham, NH Saturday night. The Huskies fall to 3-8-1 while New Hampshire improves to 9-2-2.
Connecticut held New Hampshire scoreless through a period and a half of play and led the Wildcats, 1-0 for just under 10 minutes. Defenseman Michael Hoffman (Scituate, MA) scored UConn’s first goal against UNH, Connecticut’s first-ever ranked opponent since joining the Division I ranks in the 1998-99 season. Senior Kurt Kamienski assisted on the break-through goal. The Wildcats answered back threefold with goals form Andrew Leach, Kevin Truelson and Patrick Foley to pull ahead, 3-1, in a span of 9:01 in the second period.
Jason Carey (Oakdale, MN) stopped 37 for the Huskies in the loss as Jeff Pietrasiak denied 22 for the Wildcats.
The Huskies will play host to Army on Friday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the UConn Ice Arena.
