D'Angelo Earns First Weekly Honor of the Season

EDISON, NJ (October 22) – Ron D’Angelo (Massapequa, NY) of the University of Connecticut men’s hockey team was named the ITECH/Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office. D’Angelo was named the Player of the Week, the first of the 2003-03 season.
D’Angelo scored the game-winner 3:38 into the overtime period to lift UConn over Colgate, its first win of the season and the first victory over an ECAC school as a Division I program. D’Angelo’s slap shot was taken from in between the face-off circles to beat Colgate goalie stick side. He also put UConn ahead 3-2 at the start of the third period during a Connecticut power play opportunity. His assist of the night came on the game-tying goal in the third period, which sent the game into overtime. D’Angelo leads the Huskies with five points.
UConn will play host to Quinnipiac on Friday, November 1 at 7:00 pm at the UConn Ice Arena. The game will be televised live on NESN.
