Women's Lacrosse Falls to Syracuse, 17-8

Syracuse's Carrie Soult's scored the Orangewomen's first three of four goals, while Lauren Brady scored the other in the first seven minutes of play. UConn notched its first goal on a tally by Heather Bliss (Tully, NY) at the 18:37 mark. Katrina Hable claimed Syracuse's next goal, followed by a UConn score from Abby Morgan (West Chester, PA) just over a minute later. Syracuse recorded the next four goals by Erica Mathewson, Kim Wayne, Hable and Devon Baer. Connecticut then scored with four minutes remaining in the half on a shot by Pamela Lowie (Cortland, NY). The Orangewomen closed the half with the 10-3 lead on a goal from Mathewson.
Morgan opened the second stanza on a free shot goal 4:43 in. Wayne, Mathewson and Leigh-Ann Zimmer scored Syracuse's next three goals in a two- minute time span taking the 12-5 advantage. Lowie's next score came at the 18:45 mark, only to have Syracuse score the next tallies, receiving two from Stacey Brown and one from Zimmer. Lowie notched her third goal of the game at the halfway point of the stanza. Jenna Szyluk and Erica Hoffman gave Syracuse the ten-goal lead minutes later. With two minutes remaining in regulation Heather Bliss scored UConn's final tally of the game.
UConn's April Pollock (North Syracuse, NY) made nine saves in net on 32 Syracuse shots. Carla Gigon had 25 saves in goal on 28 UConn shots.
UConn will travel to South Bend, IN to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m.
