Mouring Leads UConn Past New Hampshire, 97-70

STORRS, Conn. (AP) - Albert Mouring scored a career-high 24 points to lead No. 16 Connecticut to its fifth straight win with a 97-70 victory over New Hampshire on Saturday (Dec. 2).
Mouring, a 3-point specialist, was 5-of-9 from behind the arc and opened the game with a long 3 from the left side. He also had four assists and two steals for the Huskies (6-1).
Mouring and freshman Caron Butler combined for eight 3-pointers in the first half to help the Huskies built a 53-39 lead at the break.
Austin Ganley led all scorers with 29 points for New Hampshire (1-3). Ganley was coming off a career-high 34-point performance in the Wildcats' overtime win over Dartmouth last week.
The Huskies held New Hampshire to just 23 percent shooting in the second half.
Butler finished with 18 points. He and Mouring were averaging a team-high 19 points a game coming into Saturday's contest.
Johnnie Selvie had 18 points for UConn. He and Butler led the team with nine rebound apiece as the Huskies dominated the boards 53-43.
