AT UCONN: Was in her fourth season as a member of the team.
2012-13: Competed in the third varsity eight and varsity four; finished the season as two seat of the varsity four. In the fall, competed in five seat of the third varsity eight at the Head of the Fish.
2011-12: Competed in two seat of the varsity four. In the fall, competed as three seat of the second varsity four.
2010-11: Competed in the second varsity four and third varsity eight.
2009-10: Was a member of the second novice eight and novice four; finished the season as two seat of the novice four.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford, Conn. ... was a member of the basketball team ... National Honor Society member ... yearbook editor-in-chief ... graduated with highest honors ... received the President[apos]s Award.
PERSONAL: Mara E. Gauger ... resource economics major with a minor in business entrepreneurship ... born on February 25, 1991.
PLANS AFTER GRADUATION: 'In July, I plan to move to New York City and start my job with Citigroup in their Operations Management Program. I hope to eventually obtain an international rotation through the company, and work abroad for a few years. Down the road I also plan on getting a graduate degree, most likely an MBA.'
GAUGER ON ROWING AT UCONN: 'Four years ago, I was a freshman walking around campus when a complete stranger asked me to try out for the UConn women[apos]s rowing team. Now looking back on that moment, I realize that it has defined my entire college career. Rowing is not at all what I had thought it would be at first. It[apos]s been more. I[apos]ve pushed myself both mentally and physically harder than I ever have before in my life. I[apos]ve done things that I[apos]ve never thought I could do. Thinking back on this now, I[apos]m amazed. And of course, there are the bonds that I have made with my teammates. Bonds that I know will stand the tests of time because of what we have endured together. Thank you UConn rowing for making me a better person than I was four years ago. Thank you for pushing me every day to strive to be the best person I can be on the water, in the classroom, and in life itself.'
