STORRS, CT - The UConn Huskies will host their annual tournament, the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse this weekend in Hampden, MA. The Huskies are the defending champs, having won the tournament six times in its history.
The 2026 UConn Invitational marks the 17th year of the tournament, formerly known as the Connecticut Cup and gets underway on Sunday, September 27. The three round tournament will play out over Sunday, Monday and Tuesday on a GreatHorse par-72 course set at 7,093 yards.
The Huskies will be joined in this year's field by Boston College, Bryant, Fairfield, Fairleigh Dickinson, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Merrimack, Providence, Rhode Island, Sacred Heart, Siena, St. John's, Villanova.
The UConn starting lineup will be lead by this week's BIG EAST Golfer of the Week in junior Kai-Jun Huang (Taipei, Taiwan), who is coming off his second career victory. Huang victorious after a three-way playoff to capture The Goat tournament at the U.S. Naval Academy. The junior birdied the third playoff hole en route to his second collegiate victory. Huang finished at 2-under par with a 54-hole score of 211 (66-74-71), opening with a first round 66 - his low-round as a member of the Huskies.
At last year's tournament, Huang used matching 71's over the final two rounds to climb the leaderboard and earn his first top-20 finish as a Husky in 11th place.
Junior Matt Costello (Taunton, MA), sophomore Brennan Korn (Flagstaff, AZ), fifth-year Justin Burroughs (Pensacola, FL) and junior Caden Blanchette (Manchester, PA) round out the UConn top-five for the weekend.
The Huskies are two tournaments into their season having played in the Doc Gimmler Invite (13th) and The Goat (6th). Huang and Korn lead the Huskies with a 71.4 and 71.8 per round average each, respectively. Both own a top-20 finish. Costello made his season debut last weekend at The Goat and tied for sixth playing as an individual.
Sophomores Matthew Oliveira (Dartmouth, MA) and Brayden Jenard (Jupiter, FL) and freshmen Yves Koller (Zurich, Switzerland) and RJ Shieh (Taipei, Taiwan) will play in this weekend's field as individuals.
