The UConn Huskies remain on the road this week as they head to Oxford, OH to take on the Miami RedHawks of the Mid-American Conference. Kick-off is slated for 3:32 pm on ESPN+.
Saturday's game marks the first-ever match-up between UConn and Miami (OH). UConn is 23-11 all-time against teams from the Mid-American Conference and have won three-straight when facing the league dating back to the 2022 campaign. The Huskies will face the league once more this season when they host UMass in October.
UConn head coach Jason Candle was 3-1 against the RedHawks during his tenure at Toledo. All four match-ups came during the last three seasons including a meeting in the 2023 MAC Championship game, a Miami victory.
UConn is coming off their first road win of the season, a 48-20 win at Southern Miss in the first-ever meeting between the two schools last weekend. The Huskies are 1-0 on the road to start a season for the first time since 2012 and also posted their largest margin of victory on the road since a 27-point win over UCF (40-13) in 2015.
The Huskies got a balanced offensive performance, rushing for 213 yards and throwing for 223. Quarterback Kalieb Osborne led the way with a pair of rushing scores while throwing for two scores as well.ย Running back Cyncir Bowers ran for a career-high 84 yards and had a 42-yard touchdown run, the longest rush of his career.ย The Huskies also got their first defensive score of the season, a 24-yard interception return by defensive end Anas Luqman.
Scouting the RedHawks... The Miami University RedHawks come in at 1-2 to start their season and host the Huskies in their final non-conference game before starting MAC action next week. The RedHawks are coming off a 35-31 loss at rival Cincinnati last weekend in the 129th game of the storied rivalry. Miami's lone win came at home over Holy Cross, 45-7. The RedHawks are averaging 30.0 points per game and average 277.3 yards per game through the air. Quarterback David McComb has thrown for 809 yards and five touchdowns early on. McComb is tops in the country with an average of 17.6 yards per completion. Wideout Maleek Huggins has 205 yards receiving on the year while Damarion Witten has two touchdown grabs. Linebacker Malcolm McCain is the team's top tackler with 22 stops on the young season.
UConn vs. the Mid-American Conference... The Huskies are 23-11 all-time against teams in the MAC and have two games against the conference this season and have won three-straight when facing the league dating back to the 2022 campaign. The Huskies have faced Buffalo more than any other team in the league, posting an 12-2 mark against the Bulls since 1999 when they joined the MAC. UConn is 3-0 against Akron, 2-0 vs. Ohio, 1-0 vs. Toledo, 2-2 vs. Kent State, 1-1 vs. Eastern Michigan, 1-0 vs. UMass, 1-2 vs. Western Michigan, and 0-4 vs. Ball State. The Huskies have never faced Bowling Green, Central Michigan or Northern Illinois. UConn also faced Temple (2-1) when they were members of the conference.
