STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team (0-3) is set to welcome the Western Michigan Broncos (0-2-1) to Ray Reid Field at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium on Sunday, August 30. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm and will be streamed on UConn+.
UConn enters Sunday's contest after suffering a loss to Fairfield on Thursday. Senior forward Elijah Langford leads the Huskies this season in goals (2), and points (4). Redshirt-junior goalkeeper Kyle Durham has made ten saves through the first games of the season. Durham led the country in saves last year with 98.
A Look at Western Michigan
Western Michigan comes into Sunday's match off a loss at home to No. 23 Wisconsin. After earning a 2-2 draw in the season opener at Kentucky, the Broncos have lost their last two matches. Western Michigan is coached by Chad Wiseman entering his 14th season in Kalamazoo. The Broncos were picked to win the Missouri Valley Conference in the Preseason Coaches' Poll after winning the MVC Tournament Championship a season ago, earning their fourth consecutive bid to the NCAA Tournament. Western Michigan had three players named to the Preseason All-MVC team, defenders Braxton Arpachinda, and Christian Shannon, along with forward Sahel Yessen. Arpachinda led the Broncos last season in assists (4), and points (12).
Series History
This will mark the first-ever meeting between UConn and Western Michigan in men's soccer.
