Huskies Kick Off 2026 Season with Matchups Against UNH and #20 Saint Joseph's

STORRS, Conn. โ The UConn women's field hockey team kicks off the 2026 season with a matchup against the University of New Hampshire followed by a match against no.20 Saint Joseph's. The Huskies will open the season against New Hampshire on Saturday August 29 at noon and will face off against Saint Joseph's Sunday August 30 at 2pm on ESPN+.
The Huskies will begin the 2026 season with plenty of new faces. Despite the new roster, UConn enters the season ranked no.11 in the NFHCA preseason poll and will have an abundance of experience on the pitch. UConn returns Natalie McKenna in goal with Fien Hollander, Olivia Donahue and Milou Huecker anchoring the back line, while Olivia McKenna leads the midfield. UConn will look towards its sophomore class to take a leap as, Abby Davidson, Emma Larit, Keet Castelijn, Sydney Moritz, and Addy Infante will all look to contribute on field. Alongside their incoming freshman, the Huskies hit the transfer portal adding athletes with BIG10 experience from the University of Maryland. The Huskies added Maya Everett, Faith Everett, AJ Eyre, and Ellie Goldstein from Maryland and brought in Marlijn Swaan from the University of New Hampshire.
This is the third consecutive year the Huskies have opened the season with matchups against the University of New Hampshire and Saint Joseph's. Last season the Huskies took down New Hampshire by a final score of 4-3 to open the season before falling to no.9 Saint Joseph's by a final of 2-1 in a shootout.
The Huskies match against Saint Joseph's will be streamed live on ESPN+.
