Huskies Open Season at Penn State Invitational

STORRS, Conn.ย - UConn volleyball hits the road for its first tournament of the season this weekend, competing at the Penn State Invitational against High Point, Penn State and Hofstra.
The Huskies welcome eight newcomers to the 2026 roster, including four outside hitters, two middle blockers, one libero and one defensive specialist. After losing four key contributors from last season, seniors Grace Maria and Isabella Suhy, along with sophomore Jordyn Hughes, return to lead the Huskies.
UConn opens the weekend against High Point on Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. The only meeting between the programs came in 2007, when the Huskies earned a 3-0 sweep. High Point was unanimously selected as the preseason favorite by the Big South head coaches.
The Huskies will then face Penn State on Aug. 29 at 4 p.m. The most recent meeting between the programs came in 2022, when the Nittany Lions earned a 3-0 sweep. Penn State finished the 2025 season 19-13 overall and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, where it fell to No. 3 Texas.
UConn closes out the weekend against Hofstra on Aug. 30 at noon. The Pride hold a 3-0 advantage in the all-time series against the Huskies. In the most recent meeting in 2023, Hofstra earned a 3-1 victory at UConn.
