STORRS, Conn. โ UConn field hockey head coach Paul Caddy has announced the hiring of Madi Herb to his coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Herb steps into the role after spending the past year as the program's Director of Operations. In addition to her new coaching duties, Herb will continue to manage administrative and operational responsibilities for the program.
"Leadership isn't always about having the title, it's about earning the trust," said head coach Paul Caddy. "Madi has done that through her commitment, her work, and the way she has supported this team. Now she gets the opportunity to take that trust and elevate it into leadership. Having Madi step into an assistant coach role is a huge addition to our program, and we're excited to see the impact she'll have on our team both on and off the field."
Before moving into her role as Director of Operations Herb was a standout for the Huskies, spending four years in a UConn uniform including two as team captain, totaling 13 goals and 11 assists over her career as a midfielder/forward. Her success on and off the field earned her the Keith Caddy Award for heart and dedication, as well as the Nancy Stevens Academic Leadership Award in 2024.
"I'm extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to continue to be a part of UConn Field Hockey in this new role," said Herb. "This program has meant so much to me, and I'm incredibly thankful to have the opportunity to give back and support the program that has given me so much. I'm looking forward to helping these student-athletes continue to develop, compete at the highest level, and grow together, while doing everything I can to help our program continue to succeed."
Herb's standout play traces back to Wilson High School, where she earned 2019 First Team All-State and All-County honors after leading her team to a State Championship, following a Second Team All-State recognition in 2018. She was a two-time All-Division selection and was named to the Max Field Hockey Top 50 player list.
Herb graduated UConn in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Personalized Nutrition.
