STORRS, Conn. – UConn Director of Athletics David Benedict has announced the promotions of Eric Schneider to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Governance and Regulatory Affairs and Will Aloia to Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Revenue Sharing Strategy.
Schneider returned to his alma mater in November 2017 as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance before ascending to Associate Director of Athletics/Compliance. During this time, Schneider has been instrumental in overseeing the entire day-to-day operations of the Office of Athletics Compliance, working with numerous championship programs to ensure compliance, and creating compliance systems and policies and procedures to align with the ever changing NCAA landscape beginning with the onset of name, image, and/or likeness (NIL) legislation to the House Case Settlement. In his new role, Schneider will help to proactively position UConn Athletics within the NCAA's new governance structure, oversee and implement numerous internal operations policies and procedures for various athletics units, and serve as the main liaison to specific campus departments.
After earning his Bachelor of Science in sport management from UConn in 2007, Schneider earned his Masters of Science in sports management at Adelphi University in 2011 where he also served as an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. Schneider is an active member of the National Association of Athletics Compliance (NAAC), and previously served as chair of the membership/awards committee. He was honored with the NAAC Rising Star Award in 2015, and was recently selected to and participated in the 2025 NACDA Senior Administrators Mentoring Institute.
Aloia has been a valued member of the UConn compliance staff since joining in October 2021 as Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance Services. Aloia assists in the managerial oversight of the Office of Athletics Compliance ensuring NCAA, Big East Conference, Hockey East Association, Coastal Athletic Association and University rules and regulations are adhered to. Aloia now manages and oversees the documenting and reporting of the House v NCAA settlement outcomes (e.g., CAPS, NIL Go) and assists in the strategic oversight of UConn's revenue sharing program. Aloia received the 2025 NAAC Emerging Leader Award and was recently selected to participate in the NACDA Senior Administrators Mentoring Institute program for the 2026-27 academic year.
Aloia earned his bachelor's degree in education from UConn in 2012 and a master's in business administration (M.B.A.) degree in sports management from the University of New Haven in 2014.
