UConn Announces MBB Staff Additions, Stevens Named GM

STORRS โย The UConn Athletics Department has tabbedย Charlie Stevensย as the men's basketball general manager. In addition, UConn announced the additionsย Andrew Hurleyย ย as Assistant General Manager andย Connor Creechย as Video Coordinator and Director of Analytics for men's basketball.
"The General Manager position is one of the most important in the new world of college basketball and we're excited to have Charlie lead our front office," head coachย Dan Hurleyย said. "Charlie is a bright basketball mind who has worked in a championship-level organization at the highest level of the sport. His experience in the NBA ranks and the relationships he has built will be crucial to maintaining the level of excellence and success we expect at UConn."
Stevensย joins the Huskies following a five-year stint in the front office of the San Antonio Spurs. Starting as a basketball ops assistant for scouting and strategy, he was elevated to Grassroots Scouting & Player Engagement Coordinator in 2023. In 2025 he became the Director of Grassroots Scouting for the Spurs. During his time with the Spurs he helped scout the 2024 and 2025 Rookie of the Year winners โ the latter former Husky Stephon Castle โ and helped San Antonio win the 2026 Western Conference crown.
Prior to his time in San Antonio,ย Stevensย held roles with Ironi Nes Ziona Basketball Club in Tel Aviv, Excel Sports Management and New Heights NYC. He played college basketball at Clark University in Worcester, Mass., where he graduated with a degree in political science in 2021.ย
In his role with the Huskies,ย Stevensย will have a hand in all aspects of the program. The GM will work directly in concert withย Coach Hurleyย on scheduling, roster construction, player development and evaluation, medical oversight, support staff oversight, NIL strategy and operations, development, administration, revenue generation and more.
Andrew Hurleyย has been a part of the UConn basketball program for the last seven years, joining his father's squad as a walk-on ahead of the 2020-21 season. In his playing career the Huskies compiled a 106-29 record and won the 2023 and 2024 national titles.ย Andrew Hurleyย compiled 12 points, six rebounds, two steals and an assist in 43 career games. UConn went a perfect 43-0 in gamesย Hurleyย appeared in.
ย "Andrew has been a valuable member of the program for the last six years. He was a two-time champion as a player and knows what it takes to uphold our standard. Andrew has shown during his time on the support staff to be a hard worker who brings a great deal of passion into everything it takes to build a winning organization."
The last two seasonsย Andrew Hurleyย has served on the support staff as a graduate assistant, assisting with player development, practice planning and operations. In his new role, he will act as a liaison between administration and the program while assisting the head coach and general manager in roster construction, player evaluation and development, practice planning, analytics and NIL strategy and operations.ย
Creechย came to Storrs ahead of the 2025-26 season and was a graduate assistant on the support staff for the national runner up. He came to UConn after a year as a GA at Texas, helping the Longhorns to the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Prior to his time in Austin he was a four-year member of the basketball team at Northern Colorado, working his way from walk-on to scholarship player and appearing in 53 games.
"Connor came into our program and brought a work ethic that is exemplary of how we do things. He has a knack for player development and is extremely efficient assisting in our video operations. Connor has a bright future in the coaching ranks and we're excited to keep him around."
In his role as the program's Video Coordinator and Director of Analytics,ย Creechย will assist the coaching staff in video scouting and game preparation. He will oversee the development and implementation of an analytics system to evaluate player performance and tendencies along with playing a heavy role in player development.
