STORRS, Conn. – The UConn softball team begins its run at the 2026 BIG EAST Tournament on Thursday, May 7. UConn enters the postseason as a top two seed for the fifth consecutive season. The Huskies come into the tournament having won seven of their last eight games of the regular season, securing a share of the BIG EAST Regular Season title for the third time under seventh year head coach Laura Valentino. UConn had a strong month in April and into May, posting a 15-3 record, sweeping three of their last five conference series. The Huskies are aiming to defend their BIG EAST crown and earn a trip back to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.
Five Huskies were recently feted by the BIG EAST coaches in the league's year-end awards, highlighted by Cat Petteys who became the third straight Husky to be named BIG EAST Player of the Year. Petteys was also an All-BIG EAST First Team selection along with teammate Jessica Walter who earned her first career all-conference honors. Three Huskies were first-time all-conference selections on the second team in Caprice Bohmer, Kaitlyn Kibling, and Savannah Ring.
