STORRS, Conn. – The UConn softball team (10-22) is set to host the DePaul Blue Demon at Burrill Family Field for a three-game series this weekend in Storrs. The series will begin on Friday, March 27 with a doubleheader starting at 1:00pm. The series will conclude on Sunday, March 29 at 12:00pm. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
UConn enters the weekend having won two of their last three games. The Huskies are off to a 3-3 start in BIG EAST play, putting UConn in fourth place in the conference standings. FULL STANDINGS
This season, the Huskies are hitting .269 as a team with 26 home runs, and 144 runs scored. Cat Petteys (.358), Emma Willers (.333), and Savannah Ring (.302) are all batting above a .300 batting average for the Huskies. Petteys leads the roster in hits (38), home runs (9), runs scored (29), and slugging percentage (.717).
In the circle, UConn's pitching staff has a 5.31 era with 145 strikeouts this season. Jessica Walter and Caprice Bohmer have led the Huskies staff, each appearing in over 20 games. Walter and Bohmer have combined to pitch in 131.1 innings out of UConn's 200.1 innings this year. Bohmer's 71 strikeouts are a staff high.
A Look at DePaul
The DePaul Blue Demons (12-19) enter the weekend on a four-game skid. Prior to their last four matchups, the Blue Demons earned a series win over Georgetown, winning two out of three games. DePaul is currently in fifth place in the BIG EAST standings with a 3-6 conference record. DePaul is coached by Liz Bouck-Jagielski entering her second season. The Blue Demons have been led by sophomore outfielder Jolie Adams this season. Adams is one of eight players in the conference to post a batting average above .300 this year.
Series History
UConn has been victorious in the last seven matchups, sweeping DePaul in 2025 and 2024. Under head coach Laura Valentino, the Huskies are 11-6 against the Blue Demons (since 2021). The all-time series is knotted up at 17-17.
