UCONN TO DELIGHT FANS WITH LIMITED-EDITION GAMPEL PAVILION MEMORABILIA
STORRS, CT – As the continued renovation project with Harry A. Gampel Pavilion continues at the end of this basketball season, UConn Athletics is unveiling something unprecedented: Fans can own authenticated pieces of history removed directly from the arena that has defined Huskies basketball.
Since 1990, Gampel has been the stage for Husky basketball's decades of dominance — with a combined 18 national championships between men's and women's teams. Now, select pieces of that history can live in the homes of UConn fans. A portion of the proceeds will directly support UConn Athletics.
Chris Grosse, senior associate athletic director for external strategy, is spearheading the campaign, which will generate additional revenue for UConn's athletic programs.
"We view this as an opportunity to meet multiple demands," Grosse said. "Our fans take pride in displaying their love for our teams. With The Gampel Collection, they have the chance to buy some of the most unique memorabilia around — from a Gampel seat on a customized collectible base autographed by Coach Auriemma to the actual whiteboard Coach Hurley has used to design plays."
The campaign is now live at CollectUConn.com, where fans can bid on auction items and make immediate purchases. New auction and instant-purchase items will drop weekly throughout March and April as both teams compete in their post-season tournaments.
Items will ship in April following their removal from Gampel.
Premium items include:
- Limited-edition Gampel Pavilion seats autographed by head coaches Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley
- Game-used lockers
- UConn-branded signage from the locker rooms and Gampel hallways
- Commemorative rings containing pieces of Gampel men's and women's lockers
Inventory is extremely limited. Once an item is gone, it will never be reproduced.
UConn is partnering with CollectU, a company that turns renovations into premium memorabilia to engage fans, deliver revenue and save the environment.
