UConn Sweeps Bryant, Falls to Cornell in Weekend Matches

Manchester, Conn. – The UConn women's tennis team split a pair of matches this weekend at Magic Lincer Tennis Club, defeating Bryant 7-0 before falling to Cornell by a final score of 4-3.
The Huskies opened the weekend with a strong performance against Bryant, claiming the doubles point before sweeping all six singles matches to secure the 7-0 victory. In doubles play, Ela Platenikova and Chloe Lomans earned a 6-4 win at No.1 doubles, while Cameron Didion and Isabella Asenov secured a 6-4 victory at No.3 doubles to clinch the point. The No.2 doubles match featuring Victoria Matos and Sydney McLeod was left unfinished.
UConn carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches. Platenikova battled back for a three-set win at No.1 singles (5-7, 6-1, 6-2), while Lomans earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No.2. Matos secured a 7-5, 7-5 win at No.3 singles, and Didion added a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 victory at No.4. McLeod picked up a 7-5, 6-2 win at No.5 singles, and Asenov rounded out the sweep with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No.6.
UConn returned to the courts the following day to face Cornell in a tightly contested match. The Huskies picked up a win at No.1 doubles as Platenikova and Lomans defeated Loudon and Ryndin, 6-2. Cornell secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No.2 doubles, while the No.3 match featuring Cameron Didion and Isabella Asenov was left unfinished at 4-3.
In singles play, the Huskies earned wins from Chloe Lomans at No.2 singles (6-1, 6-3) and Isabella Asenov at No.6 singles (7-5, 6-2). Cornell picked up victories at No.1, No.3, No.4, and No.5 singles to clinch the match and secure the 4-3 decision.
