STORRS – The No. 6 UConn men's basketball team (26-3, 16-2) plays at home for the final time this season when it hosts Seton Hall (19-9, 9-8 BIG EAST) on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off from Gampel Pavilion is set for 12 p.m. and will air on FS1 with Dave Sims and Donny Marshall on the call.
Prior to the contest UConn will honor its 2026 Senior Class of Dwayne Koroma, Alec Millender, Malachi Smith, Tarris Reed Jr. and Alex Karaban. The quintet has combined for 5,400 points, 2,447 rebounds and 1,374 assists in their respective collegiate careers. Karaban is the winningest player in program history and is on the cusp of being a top-10 all-time scorer at Connecticut. Reed Jr. was the BIG EAST Sixth Man of the Year a season ago and has emerged in one of the nation's elite bigs this season. Smith has appeared in all 29 contests as a spark off the bench, while Koroma and Millender have combined to make 27 appearances and provided valuable experience and leadership in practice and the locker room.
The Huskies hold a commanding 51-24 lead in the all-time series with the Pirates but the two sides have played close in recent season. Connecticut is 7-5 against The Hall since returning to the BIG EAST for 2020-21 and the two sides have split their regular season series in each of the last five campaigns. Earlier this season UConn scored a 69-64 win over Seton Hall in Newark, its first win at the Prudential Center since 2021. The Huskies last swept a two-game regular season series with the Pirates in 2009.
UConn is coming off arguably its best win of the season, a 72-40 shellacking of No. 15 St. John's on Wednesday night to retake control at the top of the league standings. The Huskies are a half-game up on the Red Storm with two games remaining and are guaranteed at least a share of the BIG EAST regular season title with wins in their final two contests. Seton Hall enters the contest sitting in fourth in the conference and seeking to clinch a bye to the BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinals.
Against the Red Storm on Wednesday night, Tarris Reed Jr. went for 20 points, 11 rebounds, six blocks, three assists and two steals. He became the third Husky all-time to record a 20p-10r-5b game against a ranked foe (Emeka Okafor and Donovan Clingan) and tied his career-high in rejections. His defensive effort was part of a dominating performance that saw UConn limit SJU to 19.6 percent (11-53) shooting, the lowest field goal percentage for a ranked foe in a game since 2014. Alex Karaban added 13 points with five rebounds and Solo Ball scored 11 points. The win was UConn's 27th-straight in Hartford and snapped a 13-game St. John's winning streak.
Ball leads UConn with 14.1 points per game on the season, one of five regular starters averaging double-figures. Reed Jr. is second on the squad with 13.8 points and posts team-highs of 7.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game while ranking 10thnationally and first in the BIG EAST with a 64.5 field goal percentage. Karaban does it all for the Huskies with 13.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game as he continues to ascend in the UConn history books. Silas Demary Jr. leads the conference with 6.4 assists per game in addition to 11.3 points and 4.6 rebounds a contest, and Braylon Mullins scores 12.2 a contest while hitting a league-best 2.8 threes per game in conference play.
The Pirates were last in action on Saturday vs. Georgetown, securing a 51-47 in a defensive tussle. The Hall has won three of four overall and is 5-4 on the road this season. The Pirates are ranked No. 11 in defensive efficiency per Kenpom and are tops in the BIG EAST in scoring defense, blocked shots and steals per game. Budd Clark leads the Pirates with 12.5 points and 4.7 assists per game, joined in double-figures by AJ Staton-McCray at 11.9 ppg and Tajuan Simpkins with 10.5.
Following the Senior Day home finale the Huskies will return to action on Saturday, March 7 to close the regular season at Marquette.
