Huskies Fall to Wisconsin

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The UConn softball team fell to the Wisconsin Badgers, 8-0 in six innings to close out the Gulf Coast Classic on Sunday afternoon.
Grad Jessica Walter (Middletown, Del.) made her fifth start of the season in the circle for the Huskies. Walter went 5.0 innings giving up four earned runs on eight hits, adding three strikeouts.
Wisconsin opened the scoring in the 3rd inning with a run to make it 1-0.
UConn's offense struggled against Wisconsin starter, Berritt Herr who stranded four Huskies in scoring position. Herrthrew a complete game for the Badgers.
Wisconsin broke the game open in the 6th inning, scoring seven runs, extending the Badgers lead to 8-0.
Freshman Caprice Bohmer (Ashburn, Va.) came on in relief for Walter during the 6th inning, making her 10th appearance of the season. Bohmer faced four batters before being relieved by sophomore Amber Bretton (Gorham, Maine), making her first appearance of the season. Bretton recorded the final two outs of the inning with just seven pitches.
