Track and Field Ships Up to Boston This Weekend

STORRS, Conn.- Â With just over two weeks remaining in the indoor regular season, UConn track and field will return to the Boston area, competing at the Harvard Crimson Open in Cambridge and the Valentine Invitational in Boston.
Emi Erekosima was named BIG EAST Men's Field Athlete of the Week after winning the triple jump competition at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge at Penn State, defeating the field with a jump of 15.23m. Erekosima leads the BIG EAST in the triple jump.
Brooklyn Taylor set a new personal-best in the 60m hurdles, winning the event at University Park with a time of 8.40, the fifth-best mark in program history. Emerson Flaker contributed to the Husky newcomer success, running a time of 54.77 in the 400m to finish second in the meet and place eighth on the all-time program list. Alyssa Elliot claimed the top spot in the 600m competition at 1:34.18, the sixth-fastest performance in program history.
The Huskies will return to Boston on February 21st for their final tune up before BIG EAST Indoor Championships. UConn will look to win their fifth consecutive titles on both the men's and women's side in Chicago on February 27th-28th.
