STORRS, CT - The UConn Huskies men's golf team opens their season this week at the Metropolis Intercollegiate at Metropolis Country Club in White Plains, NY, looking to get the year off to a strong start.
UConn faces a competitive 15-team field including Ivy League opponents Columbia (host), Dartmouth, and Yale, along BIG EAST foe St. John's. Rounding out the field is Bryant, FDU, Fordham, Holy Cross, Iona, Lafayette, North Dakota State, Richmond, and Towson.
The 54-hole stroke play event features two rounds on Monday and a final round on Tuesday, with shotgun starts at 8:45 a.m. ET each day. The Par 70, 6,878-yard Metropolis Country Club layout will test the Huskies' early-season form as they begin their quest for another strong campaign.
The Husky lineup for the season-opener will feature senior Connor Goode (Glastonbury, CT), junior Bradley Sawka (Ellington, CT), sophomores Matt Costello (Taunton, MA) and Caden Blanchette (Manchester, PA) and freshman newcomer Brennan Korn (Scottsdale, AZ) making his collegiate debut. Sophomore Kai-Jun Huang (Taipei, Taiwan) will also make his UConn debut playing as an individual in the field.
Goode returns for his senior season after leading UConn with a 72.0 scoring average in 2024-25. The standout performer recorded four top-10 finishes, including fourth-place showings at Xavier and the Golfweek Invitational, where he shot a season-best 208 (-8). He finished the year with 15 rounds at or under par.
Swaka brings veteran leadership with a solid 73.3 scoring average across 11 tournaments last season. He was one of three Huskies to play every event last season and had his best finish of the year when he took 10th at Xavier.
After this week's opening event in White Plains the Huskies will take part in Navy's The Goat tournament in Annapolis, MD on September 20-21.
