WSOC Plays First BIG EAST Road Tilts

WASHINGTON, DC - The UConn women's soccer team (5-2-2, 1-1 BIG EAST) embarks on a two-game road swing with a Saturday, September 27 contest at No. 21 Georgetown (6-2-2, 2-0 BIG EAST) at 5 PM and then a Wednesday, Oct. 1 clash with Providence (3-2-2, 0-0-1 BIG EAST) at 6 p.m. Both games can be seen on ESPN+.
The Huskies have been playing well, unbeaten in their last six matches (4-0-2) including a comeback draw against No. 24 Xavier on Wednesday night in Storrs. Farrah Stephen-Martin has scored in back-to-back games for the Huskies while BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year Chioma Okafor leads the squad with three goals this season. The defense has been superb for UConn, ranking 24th in the country in goals against average (.556) and 28th in the nation in shutout percentage (.556). Freshman goalkeeper Ava Yamas leads the BIG EAST Conference with four shutouts and with her .833 save percentage.Â
The Huskies are coming off a BIG EAST Semifinal victory against the Hoyas last season (2-0), en route to a BIG EAST Tournament Championship. The Huskies are seeking their first win on the Hilltop since 2021. Last time in the Nation's Capital in 2023, the Huskies earned a 0-0 draw against the ranked Hoyas.Â
UConn is unbeaten in five-straight matches against the Friars including victories in the last two matches.Â
