WSOC Rallies For 1-1 Draw vs. No. 24 Xavier

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team (5-2-2) rallied from a first half deficit to earn a 1-1 draw against No. 24 Xavier (6-2-2) on Wednesday night at Morrone Stadium.Â
The Huskies are now unbeaten in their last six matches (4-0-2) and have only allowed two goals over that stretch.Â
After the Musketeers took a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute of the match and led 9-2 in shots at halftime, the Huskies countered the momentum in the second half.Â
Redshirt freshman Se-Hanna Mars slid a perfect through ball ahead to Farrah Stephens-Martin in 56th minute. The sophomore slipped her shot past the keeper and scored for the second-straight game.Â
Stephens-Martin led the team with two shots on goal including a shot moments later on another great pass ahead by Mars. Stephens-Martin made a bid for the far post but had her shot saved.Â
Goalkeeper Ava Yamas tied a career-high with fives saves including four that came in the opening half.
The Huskies carry their unbeaten streak into another BIG EAST showdown with a Saturday, Sept. 27 match up against the Georgetown Hoyas at 5 p.m.
