Huskies Roll Past Brown, Extend Win Streak to Four Straight Games

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The UConn men's soccer team defeated the Brown Bears, 3-1 on Wednesday night at Stevenson-Pincince Field. The Huskies surged for three goals in the first 20 minutes of the match. The win moves UConn to 5-0-2 this season.
The first half saw a commanding performance from the Huskies, beginning with senior forward Charlie Holmes opening the scoring in the 10th minute off a counterattack, his second goal of the season, giving UConn an early advantage.
Senior midfielder Nicolas Tomerius doubled the Huskies lead just four minutes later with his second goal of the season. Tomerius finished with a goal and an assist, his second career game with three points.
UConn's leading goal scorer Austin Brummett continued his scoring streak, making it 3-0 in the 21st minute, his sixth goal of the season, and his fifth in his last four matches.
Brown managed to pull a goal back in the 30th minute, trimming into the Huskies lead, 3-1.
The UConn defense managed to close the door on Brown, limiting the Bears to just two shots on goal in the final 60 minutes of the match.
Redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Durham conceded just his third goal this season, snapping a two-game clean sheet streak for the New York native. Durham made two saves in the win.
