PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The UConn women's soccer team (1-2-1) earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Rutgers on Sunday afternoon at Yurcak Field.
The Huskies looked to get on the board in the 13th minute on a nice give-and-go between Chioma Okafor and Anaya Johnson. Okafor teed up a shot inside the box that was knocked away by a Rutgers defender for a corner kick.
The Huskies had three corner kick opportunities in the first half but were unable to capitalize.
After an injury to Ava Yamas with just over 20 minutes left in the second half, junior Elizabeth DiBlasi came into the game for her collegiate debut.
She immediately faced a set piece chance from just outside the box but the shot went wide to keep the game tied.
In the 87th minute, DiBlasi came up big with her first career save. A diving stop as she came off her line to keep the game tied at 0-0.
The Scarlet Knights out shot the Huskies, 14-8, but UConn earned six corner kick opportunities to Rutgers three.
Next up, the Huskies are back on the road for a Thursday, Sept. 4 against Yale at 7 p.m.
