WSOC Shut Out vs. Brown

STORRS, Conn. -- The UConn women's soccer team (1-2) lost, 1-0, to Brown University (3-0) on Thursday night in front of 1,043 at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
Brown scored the game's only goal in the first half and held on for the shutout victory. The Huskies managed six shots, with two on target, but could not find the back of the net. Brown recorded seven shots, with two on goal.
UConn generated three corner kick opportunities in the first half but were unable to capitalize on their set piece opportunities. The Huskies turned up the offensive pressure in the last 10 minutes of the second half with sophomore Riley Prozzo creating a great equalizing opportunity with about 10Â minutes left in regulation., Her service from well outside the box, curled towards the back post where junior forward Alayna Taylor sprinted forward and her volley attempt just missed wide.
The Huskies continued to pressure in the final moments with Ines Nourani, Anna Carson, Chioma Okafor, and Kaitlyn Richins all getting shot opportunities in the scoring area but were unable to find the tying tally..
In their next game, UConn will travel to Piscataway, N.J., to take on Rutgers. The match is set for August 31 at 1 p.m.
