UConn Women's Tennis Names Daniela "Dani" Vidal Romero as Assistant Coach

STORRS, CT – UConn head women's tennis coach Laura Glitz announced today the hiring of Daniela "Dani" Vidal Romero as assistant coach for the Huskies tennis program. Vidal Romero brings six years of Division I coaching experience and a distinguished playing career to UConn.
Vidal Romero joins the Huskies after spending nearly six years at Purdue University, where she served as assistant coach from 2019-2025 and volunteer assistant coach from 2018-2019. During her tenure with the Boilermakers, she played a key role in all aspects of the program, from on-court coaching and practice planning to recruiting and NCAA compliance management.
Prior to her time at Purdue, Vidal Romero served as graduate assistant coach at Eastern Michigan University from 2016-2018, where she also briefly served as interim head coach during the summer of 2017. Her coaching responsibilities have encompassed match preparation, strategy development, strength and conditioning programming, and student-athlete mentorship.
As a player, Vidal Romero had a standout career at Purdue, achieving a career-high singles ranking of No. 105 and doubles ranking of No. 24 in the ITA rankings. Her senior season was highlighted by earning Big Ten Player of the Week honors in February 2015 and receiving the ITA Most Improved Senior Award.
Beyond her on-court achievements, Vidal Romero was recognized for her leadership and academic excellence throughout her collegiate career. She was a two-time recipient of the Jenny Rabot Award for Team Leadership Excellence (2014, 2015) and earned the prestigious ITA Arthur Ashe Jr. Sportsmanship & Leadership Award as both a national and regional recipient in 2014. She was also part of Purdue teams that received the 25/85 Award for three consecutive years, recognizing elite teams that finish in the top 25 nationally while excelling academically.
Vidal Romero earned her Bachelor of Science in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from Purdue University in 2015, followed by a Master of Science in Sport Management from Eastern Michigan University in 2018.
